Alex R. | KHS Senior Session

When Alex's mother called to set up his appointment...she warned me that Alex doesn't smile much in pictures and he wasn't a big fan of taking pictures. "Oh great, this is going to be so much fun," I thought to myself sarcastically.

Well, the planets must have been in perfect alignment or something because Alex was an amazing client! It did take quite a bit of teasing to get him to crack a smile and laugh...but when he did smile it was perfect!

Thanks Alex and Julie for allowing me to do what I truly, truly, love!

Colton & Corbin

These two little guys are so full of life they had me breaking a sweat to get my shots! Mackenzie, their mother, said Corbin is usually a challenge because he doesn't like to take pictures. Colton, the youngest, is for the most part easy going. We'll the day of the shoot they switched personalities! But thanks to Mom's bubble gum, we were able to wrangle Colton and capture his smiles and laughter.

Jodie & Lee | e-session

This makes the third installment of the Jodie & Lee engagement session.
The two were gracious to help me out last winter when I needed some engagement shots for a wedding expo. Then this spring, we got some shots out in the country.

And as we near the end of the summer and countdown the days to the wedding, we needed some funky, fun shots!

Get this...toward the end of our session, I had just about run out of ideas. That was until I saw this little boy riding his bike. He passed us and then the light bulb turned on! "Hey kid! Come here," I said. "Can we borrow your bike?" The little boy said, "Sure...can I have a few bucks!" Laughter ensued and money exchanged hands.

"Lee, you pedal. Jodie, you sit on the handlebars," I instructed them. I thought I was going to pee my pants laughing at those two! Lee nearly ran into a parked car, and Jodie was laughing too hard to show how frightened she was. Good times!

After our session Jodie, Lee and the rest of their family treated me to pizza at Pagliai's. Blessed, blessed, blessed. What else can I say. Thanks for the wonderful memories, you yahoos!

Heather & Richard | e-session

I met Heather and Richard for the first time at their engagement session. They live in Saint Louis but Heather's parents (Tim and Lisa King) live in Kirksville.

They are not only going to be husband and wife soon, but I could easily tell they are best friends!

During some of the shots, I asked Heather to give me a serious look. She tried really hard but then they would both burst into laughter! Their laughter would make me laugh and then we were all laughing for no reason. It was a hoot!

They are truly a tender couple heading toward marital bliss! Can't wait for the wedding day! Congrats!

Bushnell Girls

Natalie and Emma have changed my life! Prior to their session I didn't really know much about Hanna Montana aka Miley Cyrus or her music.

The girls mentioned said they love her music. So I thought it would be a cool idea to put their slideshow of pictures to some Miley/Hanna music. I downloaded Best of Both Worlds from Amazon and I can't get enough of it! I hear it in my head all the time now.

Thanks for the cool new music suggestion and thanks for the wonderful pictures!

Kirksville's Dancing with the Stars

For the second year, the Kirksville High School Dance Team organized a fund raiser based on the hit ABC show Dancing with the Stars.

Well, this year they asked little-ole-me to be the official photographer! Since high school seniors are a part of my target market I said sure! This is a win for everyone. Get this, John and our friend Jodie were the celebrity host! They had people laughing a lot!

Here are some of the shots from the event and the link to the slideshow.

Hudson Family

I don't make it common practice to shoot family sessions on the weekends...but I made an exception for the Hudson family. Stacey said her 2 year-old daughter, Dayton, is in the best mood around 10am.

So, we met downtown and hit a few of my favorite rustic buildings.
Then we drove to the studio for a few standard portraits...or at least that's what Stacey had in mind. Little Dayton had a different idea. There wasn't much we could do to get her to pose where we wanted. I told Stacey...I think candid shots are going to be our best bet.

Alright, Dayton just be yourself! She ran over to our sun room to tickle the ivories on John's piano. Then she would extend her arms and fall from the piano bench to the inflatable mattress I placed on the floor.

Ali Pipta

We were ecstatic to say the least when Ali Pipta arrived at our studio. She was tall, thin, and wore a beautiful smile! She could totally be on America's Next Top Model.

Chrissy did her hair and make-up while I planned out our sets and wardrobe. The week before our session, I stopped into Hidden Treasure and I found this cute black and white dress with the tags still attached. It was on sale. So, I decided to buy it. I figured I would find someone to wear it. Well, when Ali arrived I just knew the dress was perfect for her...and it was.

The dress fit her like a well made leather glove. So, after our session I decided the dress would serve me no purpose...so I gave it to her! It was the greatest feeling ever!

A big thanks to her dad Joe for being such a trooper and hanging out with us for 3 hours! You're a super dad Joe!

Friendly Friends

I am so lucky to have such good friends! Chrissy Hunt came out to the Studio to do hair and make-up for one of our senior sessions. But before she left, I got her to pose for me too!

I wanted Chrissy's make-up to be over-the-top and I wanted her eyes very smokey.
"Oh, you want me to look like a whore," she said. I laughed till I cried. She said it with such a straight face! I said, "No, I want you to look high fashion!" I think we landed somewhere in between.

Then our friends Logan and Dustin came over to watch a movie...but before the big show...I had them pose too!

Here are some of my favorite shots of my favorite friends! Thanks guys and gal! Your the best.

Dillon Poston

Dillon loves his trucks! So he wanted to make sure they were a part of his senior session. Our good friend Betsy Bulkley actually took most of his senior pictures...but his red truck was out of commission that day. So, once he got her running again...his mother asked me to step in for Betsy now that she's moved to Utah.

Get this, Dillon actually bought the truck from our best friend Lee O'Brien a few years ago. So, we headed out to Lee's land.
