Shaylee Moore | Children's session

Shaylee entered our studio a little uneasy. I always try to overreact with excitement with our children so they feel like I'm one of them! Well, it didn't work too well with Shaylee. But after 20 minutes, she finally warmed up to me, and we were like BFFs.

Brooke & Brenton Thomas

Happy, happy, happy! Little Brooke is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen and the newest member of our family.

Here's the breakdown. John's brother's wife is Alissa. Alissa's oldest sister is Angie. Angie and Jeff are the proud new parents of Brooke.

Jeff and Angie live in Oklahoma with their son Brenton. They come up to La Plata for special occasions and when their work schedules allow.

Lexie Schuermann | Watch Me Grow #3

Where does the time go? It just seems like it was yesterday when our friends Lauren and Eric had Lexie. Well, 8 months have gone by and she's growing like a weed.

Our little buddy Mason was such a good sport about his portraits...except for when it came to wearing his cowboy hat. We'd put it on...and he'd take it off! Funny stuff.

His parents wanted a few shots of him in his Halloween costume as a boxer. I took the liberty of photoshopping a black eye for dramatic effect.

Sarah from Princeton HS is an all-round athlete and student. When she and her mother walked in with boxes and boxes of trophies, plaques and props, I nearly fell over! LOL!!! She's involved in EVERYTHING!!!

Cowan Farm

I've loved horses ever since I was a little boy. One summer, we went to Mexico (the country, not the city in Missouri) to visit my grandparents. One of my uncles was rounding up cattle on horse back, and I begged to help.

With trepidation, he said, 'Yes.' Well, being the city slicker that I am, I was wearing shorts, a T-shirt and boots. But that wasn't going to stop me from saddling up.

Without fail, a calf started heading the wrong direction. My uncle yells,"Cut her off around those bushes." So, I high tailed it through the bushes instead. Well, little did I know they were some kind of exotic thorn bushes! The thorns pierced my thighs a quarter of an inch deep. It hurt like a "son of a beach." My thighs were bloody, and I was crying like a baby girl. But I will never forget how wonderful it felt to gallop.

So, when Kay stopped by the studio to set up her photo shoot, I was more than thrilled when she said it would include her horses.
